A Singita safari is truly one of those “once in a life time” (or hopefully multiple times if you’re fortunate) bucket list type experiences. First of all, the locations are sublime – from Kruger and Sabi Sands in South Africa to the plains of the Serengeti – Singita properties are indescribably beautiful, gratifying on the deepest levels, luxurious, pampering, fun, oh and did I say beautiful? The people working there are imbued with a not too often seen happiness and eagerness to please and serve. The atmosphere is relaxed yet luxe and comforting. The safaris are incredible – lions, tigers, bears oh my! Actually no bears or tigers, but just about everything else you can imagine from leopards to elephants to wildebeest and hyena. Care to try a walking safar or bike next to the lions? Singita guides will take you and take you in safety and style. Want an impromptu champagne toast in the bush or a private dinner for two over looking the African savannah? Singita will make it happen at the snap of your fingers. Incredible gourmet food? Fine wine tasting? No wish will go unheeded. This may be the best way possible to experience wilderness and wildlife on the planet. The safaris include all food and drink as well as two 4 hour drives each day. Early each morning, you will wake before sunrise to coffee, cocoa, and warm muffins and head out on your private Land Rover open air 4wd vehicle with specially designed stadium seating for viewing the wildlife. Your guide and driver are yours during your whole time at the propertys and this expert team guides you though the bush to unveil the surprising nature and wildlife that is abundant yet also excitingly elusive. Imagine hearing the radio crackle of a reported siting of a black rhino and turning into the bush to track and hopefully find the animal in its habitat. The adrenaline rush is shared by all. All of this is repeated in the afternoon and culminates in your own private cocktail party every afternoon in the bush.
This place is to die for. Perched on a cliff overlooking a waterhole where elephants and hippos come to drink, each room is its own private glass enclosed contemporary ultra luxe cabin with romantic net covered poster beds, outdoor showers, free standing tubs with views of wildlife, an outdoor daybed to lie and soak in the buzz that envelopes Kruger National Park. The hotel has a gorgeous pool and an amazing wine cellar and sommelier – drink whatever you like! Want to taste alligator? Guests are invited to a “boma” which is a bbq party complete with wild game, entertainment and dancing.
This safari lodge is a short flight from Lebombo’s private landing strip over to Sabi Sands. This area is dryer, has a gorgeous sandy topography, and plenty of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros). The same twice daily safari drives with guide and driver and incredible luxurious villas – some with their own pools. Elephants will walk through your back yard so keep the glass doors closed! This hotel is a favorite among the Hollywood set – it is gorgeous yet understated, the food is exceptional, and the service is world class. Not to be missed!
